This Cartuxa Reserva Matusalém is a wine steeped in history, coming from a vineyard older than the Matusalém itself. It’s a quietly charming wine, built around Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira – varieties intimately familiar with the terroir of the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida. Expect a full-bodied wine with plenty of structure, now having spent a well-deserved 18 months in bottle, revealing ripe red fruit and a hint of spice, absolutely perfect with grilled meats or a hearty beef stew.
