This Carvalhido is a truly impressive wine, having already garnered 16.5 points at Grandes Escolhas. The colour – a deep, open black with hints of purple – immediately announces its intensity, revealing notes of damp schist, ripe eucalyptus, and a characteristic Douro character. The vibrant fruit, with bursts of blackberry and acai, is elegantly balanced by a citrus lift of lime and bergamot, thanks largely to the influence of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesa. A seriously smooth wine, it’s destined to pair beautifully with grilled beef.
