Casa da Passarella The mystery of the box found hidden inside one of the walls of Casa da Passarella is finally solved. The story begins in 1942, when the old owners of Casa da Passarella wedged a box into one of the building’s partitions, containing a handwritten document with instructions to open it 50 years later. The document, signed by a group of emblematic figures of the time, also recorded a last wish: that all the contents of the box be distributed to the poor. In reality, neither of those things ever happened. It was not until 2010, during renovations of the house, that the box was discovered and opened. And there was nothing inside. Investigations progressed, yet the mystery remained unsolved. When it seemed resignation would finally win out over persistence, an expert in the extraordinary was called to the site: “the box was indeed full” — explained Professor K. Noronha — “but not with tangible, material items. The box was saturated with an extraordinary essence that, reacting with future times, would bring happiness through wine to all who made art and profit from it. Now, those future times have already become present. And this is a dual discovery” — he concluded. The Discovery is a white DOC wine from the Dão sub-region of Serra da Estrela. It comes from vines planted on poor, granite soils in a mountainous climate. Vinification: pre‑fermentative maceration, stainless‑steel vat fermentation, batonnage in a stainless‑steel vat.
