This Casa das Gaeiras Reserva is undeniably a wine that demands respect – and rightly so. Born from ancient vines in the Óbidos sub-region, it boasts a complexity that’s almost a little grand, showcasing intense red fruit alongside a subtle balsamic note and a hint of tobacco leaf, suggesting a remarkably graceful passage through the terroir. The tannins, as promised, are impressively integrated, while the acidity ensures a vibrant freshness, making it a superb partner for game meats or dishes with a woodsy flavour. Rumour has it it’s won awards – perhaps that’s what gives it such a confident air.
