Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas and later carried on by Germana Freitas and Ermelinda Freitas, the family has always given special attention to wine. From the first generation, the house has focused on the quality of its vineyards and wines, initially produced and sold in bulk without a proprietary label. It was under the current management that a major shift occurred: the creation of proprietary brands. In 1997 a new cycle began with the first wine produced and bottled by Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
