Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has traveled a long journey, establishing itself as one of the most innovative wine producers in Portugal. The company began by producing wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. Throughout the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal expanded, acquiring estates across the country and creating new paradigms for quality wine production. Regarded as the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, Quinta da Bacalhôa is an old property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the Quinta and the famous Palácio da Bacalhôa together form an artistic monument of great significance to the country. Today, Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Fundação Berardo, which is part of the family that shares the same name and whose patriarch is Comendador José Berardo. On June 23, 1910, it was classified as a National Monument. In the area surrounding Quinta da Bacalhôa, visitors find picturesque villages, wineries, and one of the most beautiful and imposing landscapes in Portugal – the Arrábida Natural Park.
