This Castello D'Alba Reserva – it certainly looks like it’s sprung from a castle, not a twenty-first-century winery! – is a wonderfully bold expression of Viosinho, beautifully balanced alongside the exuberance of Touriga Nacional. The fresh red fruit notes are wonderfully sustained by the freshness of Códega and the backbone provided by Aragonez. A wine that, despite earning a prize from Revista de Vidro, still has plenty of potential – perfect with grilled beef and medium-intensity cheeses, perhaps?
