Catarina Made from Castelão and Alicante Bouschet grapes planted on the Setúbal Peninsula, where the vines enjoy excellent ripening conditions that enhance each variety’s character. These grapes find the ideal terroir for rich, full‑bodied, mouth‑full, elegant and complex wines on the low‑yield sandy soils of Palmela. The two varieties were vinified separately using a traditional method and kept apart until the final blend. Twenty‑five percent of the wine aged for 12 months in previously used French oak barrels. The Catarina wine displays an excellent balance between the characteristic aromas of the grapes and the wood, with a long tasting persistence. Stage: 50 % of the wine passes through French oak for more than six months. Gastronomy: The Catarina Red is ideal for sharing at the table or in the late afternoon. It is very versatile gastronomically, pairing well with a wide range of dishes. History: Catarina was born in the 1981 harvest, in honour of Princess Catarina de Bragança, Portuguese princess and queen of England, and was the first Portuguese white wine brand to partially ferment in new oak barrels. More recently, the red Catarina emerged, which, like the white, stands out for its youthful, irreverent, and fresh presentation, translating the terroir of the Setúbal Peninsula and conveying the brand’s continual evolution. Allergen information: Contains sulphites. SKU: 105072
