Born from vines planted way back in 1961 on the Setúbal Peninsula, this wine is a delightful reminder that patience – combined with that Atlantic breeze and the rich schist soils – can yield some remarkable results. The Castelão, Baga and Bastardo blend offers an intense aroma of red berries, with a surprisingly saline note reminiscent of the beaches of Aberta Nova and Galé. It finishes beautifully, long, complex and delicate, hinting at those cool nights on the western slopes of the Serra de Grândola, where the terroir injects a pronounced mineral character – particularly iron – into the wine. Absolutely fantastic with grilled fish or a hearty beef dish.
