This Calon Secur seems to have decided the Montrose rivalry was a bit much. Instead of chasing pure power, it’s opted for a surprising elegance, underpinned by a healthy dose of Cabernet Sauvignon. Remarkably, the climate crisis – quite ironically – proved a boon, allowing the grapes to ripen to a maturity that had previously seemed a serious challenge. A wine clearly aiming for some cellaring time to fully express its complexity, ideally paired with a robust steak.
