Located in Saint‑Émilion, the Bordeaux sub‑region west of France, Château Cheval Blanc, a First Grand Cru Classé, is without a doubt an exceptional wine. Its story began in 1832 with Ducasse, the judge of the Libourne town court, who bought a property near the city, acquiring 15 hectares of vineyards from Château Figeac. Among the most acclaimed wines of Saint‑Émilion in the world – the mythical Château Cheval Blanc has assumed enormous importance over the years. In Saint‑Émilion, next to Pomerol, the estate covers 39 hectares divided into forty‑five plots, each treated as a separate vineyard because of differences in vine age, grape varieties, soil types, etc. The combination of these factors creates the terroir of Cheval Blanc, where wines of great complexity are produced.
