Description

Château de Fargues 2010 – Weather conditions were perfect, allowing late ripening, which meant that the fresh and fruity aromas were perfectly preserved. A classic harvest for a delightfully gourmet wine. 2010 has all the characteristics of a great vintage. The harvest consisted of a total of five successive manual selections. The first pass took place relatively late, on September 27 and 28, but it was absolutely magnificent. The grapes were concentrated and fresh, with complex aromas. October began with the first of four rainy periods in that month, followed by bright sunshine and temperatures 3–4 °C above average: ideal conditions for noble rot development. The same scenario repeated three times, with sun, then cold weather and a northerly wind that dried the grapes. The passes followed one another from 14 to 19 October, and most of the harvest occurred from 17 to 23 October. The fifth and final pass took place on November 4 and 5, after a long 22‑day rainy spell. Vinification: 100 % in barrels with 25–30 % new oak and the rest in barrels aged one to one‑and‑a‑half years. Fermentation lasted 3 to 5 weeks in barrel, using native yeasts. Aging for 30 months. “[…] 2010 is a clean, frank, and delicate Fargues […] with good balance on the palate between liquor, sugar, and acidity.” – La Revue des Vins de France Awards 94–96/100 – Neal Martin – eRobertParker.com 92–95/100 – James Molesworth – Wine Spectator 18.5/20 – La Revue des Vins de France HS Allergen information Contains sulfites.
