This Léoville Barton is a true Saint-Julien star – it demands a little time to truly blossom. Youthful tannins are the promise here, not yet the fully realised flavour. Driven by a dominant Cabernet Sauvignon, expect intense blackberry and cassis, with the cedar notes so characteristic of this terroir. Grown on gravelly, clay soils, this wine clearly displays its distinctive identity. Having earned 97 points from Wine Enthusiast and 96 from James Suckling, it’s a safe bet – perfect with grilled red meats or a fine steak to accentuate its structure.
