This Esporão Reserva clearly enjoyed a rather indulgent upbringing – a significant time in oak, rather than bottle, accounts for its robust character. Carefully selected grapes from their own Herdade benefited from meticulous treatment: careful separation of the indigenous varieties, a brief passage through inox lagars to retain their essence, and a lengthy maturation in both American and French oak barrels. The result is a full-bodied wine with a palpable texture, a wine that’s destined to only improve with age. Perfect with a grilled beef steak, of course!
