Esporão Reserva Tinto was separated from each variety, destemmed, crushed, and fermented in tanks and small stainless‑steel vats at controlled temperatures. It displays an intense, fruit‑laden aroma of raspberries and ripe cherries, harmonised with very subtle notes from a brief barrel ageing. The mouth is wide, with soft, voluminous tannins and a very fresh, enveloping finish. Unfiltered, the wine may develop sediment with age. The pressing was followed by malolactic fermentation in a stainless‑steel tank. It aged for 12 months in oak barrels – 60 % American and 40 % French. After bottling, it spent another 8 months in the bottle. This classic wine, made solely from grapes of Herdade do Esporão, showcases the consistency and rich, typical character of the best Alentejo wines. It is clear, with a dense, opaque colour. Its textured body and good tannic expression convey intensity and muscle, hinting at a good bottle‑aging potential.
