Château Marsyas “Born recently and already gaining notoriety: Château Marsyas” – Le Figaro, 2016. The Beqaa Valley is, in reality, a plateau that runs north to south across Lebanon, lying between Mount Lebanon and the Anti‑Lebanon range, at an altitude reaching 1,000 metres. Its red soil, indicative of iron, combined with white stones, creates an ideal clay‑limestone medium for vines. The limestone gives the Lebanese terroir a unique character, compelling vine roots to extend deep into the subsoil. The vineyard spans 65 hectares, with vines aged between 12 and 17 years (since 2005). The planting density is 6,250 vines per hectare, yielding about 1 kg per vine. Harvest is carried out manually in small 15‑kg baskets, with rigorous grape selection. During vinification, the grapes undergo double selection and are gravity‑transferred to preserve quality. Extraction is gentle, employing “pigeage” (manual cap immersion) in selected vats. The wine matures for 12 months in a blend of new and used barrels, balancing freshness with complexity.
