Description

Château Mouton Rothschild 2023 Label — Joana Vasconcelos For the 2023 label, Château Mouton Rothschild invited Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, who created a colorful composition centered on the grapes and the elements that give rise to the wine: earth, water, sun, cold and human labor. The work, titled “Paradise,” evokes the connection between nature and man and the richness of the Château Mouton Rothschild terroir. The artist drew on her graphic and colorful universe to craft a vibrant interpretation of the 2023 harvest. 2023 — Weather and Harvest After a rainy late‑autumn of 2022, a mild, humid winter replenished the soil’s water reserves. Vine growth began under good conditions in early April, despite a cold spell that caused some damage. A mild spring fostered vine development, and flowering occurred under excellent conditions at the end of May, six days earlier than average. Summer brought some intense heat periods, especially at the end of August and beginning of September. During the harvest, weather alternated between hot, sunny days and thunderstorm spells, allowing gradual grape maturation while preserving freshness. The harvest concluded in the last week of September, with ideal weather and mild temperatures.
