Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac Tinto

Description

Jean‑François de Pontet was named in the court of Versailles, where he held the position of Grand Equitator (Master of the Horse) for Louis XV. After returning to Guyenne, he became Governor of the Médoc. In 1705 he acquired some hectares of land north of the village of Pauillac, where he planted vines, giving his own name to the land in order to give his estate a distinct identity. A century later, Château Pontet‑Canet was flourishing and became one of the few estates selected to join the famous 1855 classification, which had been ordered by Napoleon III. Today, the descendants of Guy Tesseron own the property: Alfred and his nieces Mélanie and Philippine. Together, they envisioned a new era for Château Pontet‑Canet, where viticulture embraces organic and biodynamic methods and the wines have evolved to the point that they are now among the most prestigious in Bordeaux.
