Château Smith Haut Lafitte Pessac-Léognan Tinto

Description

The noble Bosq family began cultivating grapes in 1365. The estate was purchased in the 18th century by the Scotsman George Smith, who gave it its current name. He also built the mansion and exported its wine—now famous—to England aboard his own ships. In 1842, Mr Duffour‑Dubergier, mayor of Bordeaux and an enthusiastic vintner, inherited Château Smith Haut Lafitte from his mother and elevated the wine to a high level. Impressed by the excellent quality of Smith Haut Lafitte, the Louis Eschenauer company began distributing the wine worldwide from the early 20th century, deciding to buy the estate in 1958. Before the end of the Eschenaueur period, a substantial amount of money was invested in the property, especially in building an excellent underground cellar that can hold more than 1,000 barrels.
