“Chryseia – a name hinting at the golden Douro – is a bold creation from Prats & Symington, in collaboration with winemaker Bruno Prats. Born from the vineyards of Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz, this red wine seamlessly blends Portuguese tradition with a subtle Bordelaise influence. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and boasting extended maceration in cellars reminiscent of traditional ‘velhas adegas’, it offers a remarkable complexity, expressed through aromas of exotic spices – nutmeg, cloves, saffron – and earthy notes, almost of peat. On the palate, it’s a genuinely rewarding experience: supremely silky tannins, a refreshing natural vibrancy that carries the flavours of black fruit, and a delicate finish of cocoa. Notably recognised as a pioneer of the Douro’s revitalised non-fortified wines, and lauded by Wine Spectator with a prestigious 96/100 score, this is a wine designed for sharing, particularly with quality meats and robust cheeses.
