Clarete Barroca da Malhada Trincadeira is made from the Trincadeira grape, with hand‑harvesting, spontaneous fermentation and minimal cellar intervention. The wine results from a combination of three distinct stages in second‑use Portuguese oak barrels, amphorae and stainless steel, which add to its complexity and balance. It shows a crystal‑clear, bright red colour. In the nose it presents an intense, fresh expression with notes of mint and strawberry, plus subtle hints of brioche and vanilla. On the palate it is succulent and balanced, with fresh red fruit, a well‑integrated earthy side and excellent freshness. Barroca da Malhada is an artisanal wine producer from Beira Interior, based on a historic property dating back to the Middle Ages that once belonged to the Viscounts of Tinalhas. With about five hectares of vines grown organically and using biodynamic practices, it works on granite‑origin schist‑sandy soils in one of Portugal’s most mountainous regions. The wines reflect a low‑intervention approach, prioritising authenticity, freshness and expression of place. (image purely illustrative)
