In the national wine landscape, there is no more widely accepted producer than Niepoort, and the long history begins in 1842 when the first Van Der Niepoort arrived in Portugal. Starting out in the Port wine market as a merchant, he quickly set up his business, which would prove both prosperous and promising. Thus, in the fifth generation, Dirk Niepoort was born—a prominent figure in the world of wine, recognized as one of the most important people who has worked, and continues to work, for Portuguese wine. He has collaborated with dozens of producers, helping them improve their wines and understand their vineyards, while also shaping his own legacy alongside those who continually create bold wines. Today, Dirk Niepoort is involved in many other projects across almost all national wine regions and several overseas ones. The bottling year may not match the image shown.
