The story of Montes reads like a dream, and it indeed began that way, gradually turning into reality. In 1987 our two original founders, Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray, both highly experienced wine professionals, decided to pursue their dream of producing Chilean wines of far superior quality to the standards of the time. In 1988 they were joined by two more founders, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, who brought their own complementary skills and experience to the venture. And thus Montes was born, initially under the name Discover Wine. It was a dream that became a reality for four great visionaries who managed to take Montes wines from complete obscurity to over 100 countries around the world; making first‑grow vintage wines respected and admired by critics and the global trade, and drawing attention to what Chile is capable of producing.
