This Conde d’Ervideira is a wine that clearly wasn’t afraid to have some fun. Harvested under the cover of darkness, with Touriga Nacional fermenting in “vinimatics” and Alicante Bouschet gently crushed by foot – a delightfully old-school approach – it’s a producer who’s not shy about a bit of experimentation. The result is a deeply coloured red, brimming with ripe fruit and a touch of rustic charm, largely thanks to the influence of the Aragonez grape. Twelve months in French oak has smoothed things out beautifully, adding velvety texture and hints of spice. Notably, this wine snagged a win at Expovinis Brasil, cementing its status – a truly impressive achievement! It would pair wonderfully with a perfectly grilled beef dish or anything featuring earthy mushrooms.
