This Contador 2016 is a genuine little miracle, conjured as brilliantly as you’d expect from Benjamín Romeo. Born from a meticulously chosen selection of vineyards, it’s all about that elusive balance of acidity, alcohol, and tannins – the holy grail, really. The brutally dry 2016 harvest favoured the toughest vines, yielding a remarkably concentrated wine with a wonderfully earthy character. Aged in new French oak, it demands exploration, as confirmed by the discerning critics – 98/100 from Robert Parker and 97/100 from Penin. Seriously, pair it with grilled red meats and aged cheeses; you won’t be disappointed.
