Covela Branco

Description

Covela COVELA Avesso Natur is our first Avesso that is not only certified organic, but also bottled without the addition of sulfites. The wine showcases Covela’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to unlocking the full potential of the Avesso grape, native to the granite soils along the Douro River where the estate is located. It is the second certified organic wine from the property, following the launch of the Covela Avesso Reserva Biológico in 2019. In COVELA Avesso Natur, the typical sulfites used to stabilise wines were replaced by dried chestnut flower (Castanea sativa Mill.) harvested from Covela’s own chestnut trees and hand‑prepared by our viticulture and oenology teams. From the 2020 harvest, we selected a small batch of grapes from our lower parcel of Campo Fundeiro, fermenting and ageing them in our oldest oak barrels to replicate the most traditional winemaking methods of our region. This aromatic, medium‑bodied wine pairs wonderfully with grilled sardines, roasted pork or a rustic cheese platter.
