This Covela is clearly a wine with a serious attention to detail – and the results are surprisingly complex. Born from granite soils – a natural amphitheatre, you might say – it bursts with floral and black cherry aromas, underpinned by a vibrant acidity that bravely confronts the Douro’s continental climate. The spontaneous fermentation, utilising oak from Austrian and French forests, lends it a distinct elegance, while the regular lees stirring preserves the wine’s rich character. A wine of ‘Old Vineyards’ and ‘Arinto’, promising a truly memorable tasting experience, ideally paired with fresh fish or a perfectly grilled steak.
