Description

94 points, Robert Parker – a very deep purple‑black at the centre with a narrow reddish‑purple rim. While the nose showcases the seductive, opulent character of red fruits—a common trait of Vintage Roêda Port wines—it also carries intense wild‑berry aromas that add focus and delicacy. As usual, the fruit is wrapped in exotic balsamic, minty, and eucalyptus scents. The first impression on the palate is a rich, velvety texture, but it delivers excellent acidity and well‑integrated tannins that emerge at the finish. The finish is powerful and very long, with persistent, crisp red‑fruit flavours. Though, as always, the 2018 Vintage Roêda is mature and seductive, the year's characteristics and the contribution from the oldest vines in Roêda have positioned this superb Vintage single‑Quinta Port at the elegant and restrained extreme of the spectrum.
