This Arinto from the Alentejo is certainly a curious affair. The producer clearly has a fascination with isolating this wine, presenting it as something almost spectral. The palate reveals a complexity that leans towards austerity, with an acidity so pronounced it practically demands a cold plunge. Despite its light body, the structure is remarkably impressive, and the finish… well, it’s long, long, long – as if the wine were confiding secrets. A fantastic pairing would be with a grilled white fish, perhaps conger – to beautifully balance the intensity.
