Leaving Évora behind and following the aqueduct toward Arraiolos, with the Cartuxa Convent as a good omen, we turned right to find a property called Santa – Quinta de Nossa Sra. da Conceição. Next to the main 18th‑century building (restored in 2006 by the current owners) is an old chapel that now welcomes visitors as a cozy shop and wine‑tasting room. Across the remaining 23 hectares of the estate there is a vineyard, forested areas, a greenhouse, a garden and animal husbandry. These elements create a dialogue between history, human ingenuity and nature, all produced organically under American and European certification standards. At one of the highest points of the property a small circular vineyard of 3.5 hectares was planted, marking the start of this Alentejo project. (Illustrative image only)
