Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas, it was carried on by Germana Freitas and later by Ermelinda Freitas, always giving special attention to wine. From the first generation, the house has relied on the quality of its vines and wines, which were originally produced and sold in bulk with no brand. It was under the current management that a major shift occurred: creating its own brands, and in 1997 a new cycle began with the first wine produced and bottled by Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
