Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas, the house was carried on by Germana Freitas and later by Ermelinda Freitas, always devoting special attention to wine. From the very first generation, this estate has bet on the quality of its vineyards and wines, which were initially produced and sold in bulk without a brand name. The major change came under the current management of Leonor Freitas, and in 1997 a new cycle began for this century‑old family business, with the first wine produced and bottled under the name Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
