This Dona Graça Pai Horácio Grande Reserva – a Douro white – clearly needed a little R&R. A three-hour maceration certainly softened things up nicely before the fermentation, which took place in both French oak and stainless steel at a cool 16°C. The result is a wine with a delightfully assertive acidity and a texture that’s almost a warm embrace. Critics awarded it 90 points, describing its vibrant yellow-citrine hue and citrus notes which dance with a hint of toasting – a fantastic pairing with a grilled white fish, something that won’t be intimidated by such a characterful wine.
