This Dona Graça Reserva feels like it sprung from a very vivid fruit dream, driven by the vibrant Tinta Barroca and Aragonez – a combination lauded by the Grande Escolha. The six-month ageing in French Seguin Moreau oak certainly added a touch of elegance without sacrificing the wine’s impressive structure, a structure partly shaped by that rather dramatic, and thankfully beneficial, frost. It’s a promising wine with a beautiful retro-nasal finish, as the Grande Escolha noted, and would pair wonderfully with roasted duck, wouldn’t you agree?
