Duas Quintas O Duas Quintas Tinto 2023 stands out for its elegance and freshness. **The Wine** The Duas Quintas Tinto is a Superior Douro wine sourced from Quinta de Ervamoira (150 m above sea level) and Quinta dos Bons Ares (600 m above sea level). It is crafted from traditional grape varieties that express the potential of this special region. **The Year** The growing season began early, thanks to the ample soil moisture from a wet winter and warm temperatures at the start of spring. By the end of May, temperatures stabilized and there was no rainfall. Summer was turbulent, with rain in June and a hot, dry July and August. Starting the second half of September, intense rainfall cycles hampered the end of the harvest. At Quinta de Ervamoira, there were no ripening problems; grapes were harvested between mid‑August and mid‑September. At Quinta dos Bons Ares, the red grape harvest began in the second week of September and finished in the third week of the same month. **Vinification** Touriga Nacional (45 %), Touriga Francesa (40 %), traditional Douro varieties (15 %) – including Tinta Roriz, Tinta do Barco, Tinta Barroca, Sousão, Tinto Cão, and Tinta Amarela. Each parcel of grapes is tasted repeatedly in the vineyard until the ideal picking time is found. Upon arrival at the winery, grapes separated by variety and parcel are destemmed, gently crushed, and directed to different fermentation vessels – granite vats, oak barrels, concrete and stainless‑steel tanks. Our deep knowledge of each parcel allows us to select the most suitable vessel and fermentation type. The maceration period between juice and skins is extended to achieve the desired body and structure. After malolactic fermentation, 20 % of the wine ages in French oak barrels (30 % in the same type of barrels and tanks, and the remaining 50 % in stainless‑steel tanks) for about 12 months. **Gastronomy** It makes an excellent companion for reading, family conversations, and as an aperitif.
