It shows a red hue with violet reflections, bearing fresh aromas of ripe wild fruits, notes of vanilla and spices, and a hint of jam. The tannins are firm and vibrant, and the finish is long and robust. The company Sociedade Agrícola de Pias, founded in 1973 by José Veiga Margaça, initially sold wines in bulk and large bottles under the brand “Margaça”, named after its founder who interacted with the people of Pias and everyone involved with the company—clients, suppliers, and friends. The cellar quickly became known as “A Adega do Margaça” thanks to José Veiga Margaça’s unusual dynamism and personality as an entrepreneur and friend. With the launch of its second brand, “Encostas do Enxoé,” in 1988—a wine now universally recognized for its enviable quality—it marked the start of bottled wine sales.
