The Agricultural Society of Sossega, owner of Monte do Pintor, was founded in 1991 and its primary goal is the production and marketing of wines. In 1995 the marketing of a regional Alentejo wine under the Monte do Pintor label began. The vineyards are planted on gentle south‑facing slopes in soils defined by a distinct terroir. The grape blend is dominated by the traditional Alentejo reds Trincadeira and Aragonez, along with Castelão, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Caiada, Alicante, and Moreto, and the whites Verdelho, Arinto and Antão Vaz.
