This Esporão, hailing from the Esporão Estate, is a serious declaration of Alentejo’s luxurious potential. The fermentation in marble lagares delivers a remarkable intensity, revealing a deep ruby colour with intriguing purple undertones hinting at considerable complexity. Expect aromas of ripe blackberry and blackcurrant, layered with a subtle toasted note from the French oak ageing – a full year’s refinement, you might say. On the palate, the fruit is wonderfully concentrated and supremely smooth, finishing with a lingering, delightfully unexpected note. Really lovely with grilled beef or a hearty stew.
