Reguengos de Monsaraz , Alentejo
Portugal's most-visited wine tourism destination, Herdade do Esporão sprawls across 1,800 hectares of cork oaks, olive groves and vines in Reguengos de Monsaraz. The estate's centrepiece is a restored medieval watchtower — Torre do Esporão — surrounded by the world-class Esporão Restaurant, where chef Pedro Pena Bastos has earned a national reputation for ingredient-led, hyperseasonal Alentejano cuisine. Visitors choose from architectural tours of the modern winery designed by José Paulo dos Santos, harvest experiences, talha (amphora) wine workshops, vineyard 4×4 expeditions, and visits to the regional fauna preserve.
Wine tourism since 1997, anchored by a 15th-century medieval watchtower (Torre do Esporão) on a property with documentary references back to 1267.
