This Ferreira Dona Antónia Tawny Reserva, lauded with 92 points by Wine Spectator, is a beautiful exploration of maturity. After a considerable period of ‘aging’ – let’s call it what it is – you’ll find a deeply orange hue, a clear echo of its time spent in oak. The nose bursts with ripe plum, apricot and marmalade, subtly laced with Touriga Nacional. The oxidation has crafted a fascinating layer of spice and nuttiness. On the palate, the wine’s intensity is wonderfully balanced, finishing with remarkable persistence; it would pair wonderfully with a creamy goat cheese.
