Produced exclusively from the Bical grape, sourced from certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, the Nossa Calcário Branco accurately expresses the character of the calcareous soils from which it springs. It displays a bright, intense straw‑yellow colour with greenish reflections. The nose is dominated by strong mineralism and a subtle smoky note typical of limestone, wrapped in nuances of ripe pear—a hallmark of Bical—and delicate hints of dried fruit. As it evolves in the glass, notes of thyme and honey emerge. On the palate it is elegant and creamy, with an enveloping texture and pronounced mineralism, rendered in a subtle Atlantic‑inspired salinity. Broad and structured, it finishes long and precise, with notes of ripe fruit and a slightly candied finish. A wine of great culinary versatility, it pairs beautifully with noble fish, braised veal, game birds or aged cheeses. With excellent aging potential, it can mature harmoniously for about ten years. Filipa Pato confirms the old saying “a son of a fish knows how to swim.” Though she followed in her father Luís Pato’s footsteps, including in her academic training, Filipa always sought her own world, her own project, where she could showcase her ideas and move forward on her own terms. The 2001 harvest, a stellar year in Bairrada, brought all this to fruition. Today, her wines are the result of Filipa’s innovative and brilliant spirit, quickly gaining success nationally and internationally.
