Florão Located on the slopes of the Natural Park of Serra de São Mamede, near Portalegre, the Fonte Souto vineyards—planted between 490 and 550 metres in altitude—benefit from cooler and more humid conditions than the hot Alentejo plain. The wines express the freshness and balance provided by the high elevations, as well as the structure and complexity resulting from mature vineyards with low yields. The Quinta da Fonte Souto, near Portalegre, was acquired by the Symington family in 2017 and represents their first wine project outside the Douro region. The estate, whose name is inspired by abundant water and large wooded areas, covers 207 hectares, of which 42 are vineyards. The cool microclimate, soil profile and vineyard maturity allow the production of high‑quality wines with a very distinctive identity. Fifty percent of the lot aged for six months in 400‑litre French oak barrels, second and third‑year. Awards 16/20 – Grandes Escolhas 2026 (2022)
