This Fonseca Tawny is a true testament to its century-old Douro vineyards, presenting with a colour already hinting at its extended ageing – a beautiful orange-yellow that edges towards brick. The nose is an invitation to indulgence, with figs and plums dancing alongside the sweetness of caramel, subtly enhanced by a touch of spice that adds a delicious layer of mystery. On the palate, the richness of the jam is beautifully restrained by a refreshing acidity, a pairing that would be superb with a good aged cheese or, perhaps, a hearty beef tongue.
