The Cos, as it was known, was born from the hands of Louis Gaspard d'Estournel, a man with a single passion – the modest Cos estate – which he deemed so special that in 1811 he began bottling his production. Unfortunately, that passion turned into his undoing, as he accrued numerous debts to expand and embellish the property, which was sold in 1985. The château changed hands until it reached the Prats family (also producers of Chryseia with the Symington family). In 2000, Bruno Prats sold Cos d'Estournel to Michel Reybier, the current owner.
