“This Guadelim Reserva, born in the heart of the Alentejo, speaks of considerable maturity – it’s 2009 vintage, after all. It presents a deep dark plum colour and a nose brimming with dried herbs, vibrant red fruit, and a hint of dark chocolate, all underpinned by a lovely smoky paprika note – a detail that suggests a generous period of bottle ageing. On the palate, it shows a robust structure with a freshness that, frankly, could benefit from a little encouragement, but which ultimately sets the stage for even more expressive ageing. A tribute to the Aragonez, Alfrocheiro, and Alicante Bouschet grapes, and to the Sul Estoril family’s philosophy – remarkably sustained by solar panels – producing a wine that, despite the years, retains an unexpectedly lively character. Perfect with slow-roasted red meats or a perfectly cooked *boi minhoto*.”
