Herdade do Esporão A wine for every occasion. With a balanced and gastronomic profile, it brings out the finest aromas and flavours of Alentejo grapes and sub-regions. The first harvest of Monte Velho dates back to 1991 and it first entered the market in 1992, then retailing at 200 escudos. Inspired by the flagship Esporão Reserva, Monte Velho revolutionised everyday wine consumption by delivering quality to the table at an affordable price. Monte Velho’s story is tightly linked to the land that gives it origin, making it a distinctly Alentejo wine through its diverse grape varieties and character. The wines result from a blend of nature and viticultural tradition, coupled with the experience and innovation that define Esporão. Vinification: mechanical harvest, grape cooling, vacuum pressing, cold settling of the must, and controlled fermentation in stainless‑steel tanks for 15 days. Winemakers: José Moreira da Silva and Beatriz Mateus.
