This white wine from Herdade do Esporão, formerly known as “Garrafeira,” is a bold venture by winemaker David Baverstock – taking the classic Australian Semillon from the Barossa Valley and brilliantly adapting it to the estate’s granite soils. The result is a remarkably complex and inviting wine, achieved through patient pressing and traditional bâtonnage. Sandra Alves and João Ramos have truly elevated this wine, offering a substantial structure that promises longevity. And, of course, the Esporão legacy continues with artwork by Abel Mota, celebrating Portuguese art and culture – a wine that rightfully earned 95 points from Wine Enthusiast, ideally paired with grilled fish or seafood.
