Herdade Papa Leite Pacto do Diabo is a red wine made from the grape varieties Alicante Bouschet, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It displays a garnet hue and aromas of jam, blackberry compote, and ginja (the Portuguese cherry liqueur), blended with floral notes. On the palate its spicy character is evident, reflecting a good integration of the oak in which it matured for 20 months. The Herdade Papa Leite estate, located in Alter do Chão in the heart of Alto Alentejo, dates back to the 17th century and still bears landmarks from that era. After passing through many families, Filipe Barreiros Cardoso fell in love with the property, acquired it, and with the support of his family and team, realized an old dream of producing high‑quality products. Consequently, the estate was expanded and revitalized, covering 320 hectares dedicated to wine, olive oil, and cattle production. The vines are planted on clay soils, and the grapes are harvested at night and selected before entering the cellar, ensuring that the wine is produced from the finest raw material.
