Born and raised in the Ribeira de Santarém, Hugo Mendes studied Biotechnology Engineering, but his love for wine spoke louder, and since the 2006 harvest he has devoted himself entirely to enology. An enthusiast of communicating the art to consumers, he is a regular presence on social media. Since 2008 he runs a blog dedicated to demystifying enology for wine lovers. In the 2016 harvest he became an independent producer, having launched the first crowdfunding in Portugal to finance a wine. (illustrative image)
