The Jorge Rosa Santos e Filhos Agricultural Society Ltd is the family business that manages the agricultural operations at Monte do Mata Mouros, in the parish of Glória, Estremoz. The family has a strong link to farming that stretches back to the era of the Marquis of Pombal, and the current generation brought the inspiration that propelled this “small project.” Monte do Mata Mouros is a small plot of land situated on a buttress of Serra d’Ossa, facing the Ribeira de Tera valley. There, high‑quality grape varieties were planted under conditions of great austerity created by exceptional microclimatic conditions and their skeletal loamy soils. The philosophy that guides their viticultural and winemaking practices is based on the freedom of expression of the vine, which is considered unique. Thus, deliberately, each harvest presents singular characteristics, reflecting the plants’ response to the environmental variations of each year. Each harvest is irreproducible and inimitable.
