This “Inevitável” from Casa Santa Vitória certainly feels like a wine crafted to commemorate a rather significant milestone – the 30th anniversary of the Vila Galé Group. As a limited edition, of course, it’s a celebration in bottle. The careful hand-harvesting and selection of grapes, coupled with fermentation in lagares and a 14-month aging in French oak, deliver a wonderfully complex profile, whilst undeniably retaining that soulful Alentejo character. It’s a fantastic match for a hearty hunt – or, dare I say, a perfectly grilled cod, or perhaps even a robust sheep’s cheese.
