This Jim Barry Shiraz, affectionately named “Armagh”, serves as a charming reminder that the original Irish settlers had a surprisingly refined palate – and a fondness for rolling hills. Planted in 1968, the vineyard yields just a handful of these prized grapes, showcasing incredible concentration. With its sandy soils and northwest-facing aspect, the vines capture ample Mediterranean sunshine, resulting in a remarkably balanced wine. Given the extremely limited production (less than 1.5% of Australian wine!), it’s undoubtedly a rare gem – perfect alongside a hearty steak.
